Weed Wednesday: A Pretty High Review Of Ripple THC Gummies

weed and food ARE TWO OF THE MOST PERFECT THINGS ON THIS PLANET. WHAT’S NOT SO PERFECT IS HOW THEY TASTE TOGETHER.

WHILE MANY DISPENSARIES IN DENVER OFFER A WIDE VARIETY OF EDIBLES, I’M SAD TO SAY THAT MOST OF THEM TASTE LIKE ASS. I MEAN — IF I WANTED TO EAT A WEED LEAF I WOULD JUST DO THAT.

AS MY HOUSEWARMING PARTY APPROACHED, I SOUGHT A CANNABIS CHEF WHO COULD WHIP SOMETHING UP FOR MY GUESTS BUT TO MY DISMAY, EVERYONE IN THE CITY WAS BOOKED + BUSY THAT WEEKEND.

THAT’S WHEN I THOUGHT — I’LL JUST DO IT MYSELF! SO, I enrolled in YOUTUBE university, LEARNED HOW TO DECARB MY WEED, + got to work.

SO BOOM — I HAVE MY SLOW COOKER WEED BUTTER AND IT’S LIT… LITERALLY.

Although my chocolate-covered strAWBERRIES WERE A HIT, EVERYBODY WAS SMACKED. THEY WERE WAY TOO STRONG. I COUNTED MY LOSSES AND LOOKED FOR AN ALTERNATIVE. THAT’S when I WAS INTRODUCED TO THE WORLD OF microdosing.

colorado-edible company ripple has entered the chat.

I RECENTLY GOT A CUTE ASS CARE PACKAGE FROM THE COMPANY WHICH INCLUDED:

  • RIPPLE “pure” THC GUMMies

  • RIPPLE QUICKSTICKS

  • RIPPLE DISSOLVABLES

THE QUICKSTICKS (WHICH I SAMPLED IN BLUEBERRY pomegranate) ARE A LOT LIKE PIXIE STICKS and gave me all of the nostalgia, BUT THE DISSOLVABLES ARE PROBABLY THE DOPEST PRODUCT OF THEM ALL.

ripple’s THC DISSOLVABLES are tasteless and CAN BE ADDED TO ANY MEAL OR DRINK TO MAKE ANYTHING AN EDIBLE … WHICH DEFINITELY WOULD HAVE SOLVED MY HOUSEWARMING DEBACLE.

you can buy ripple products in three unique varieties: pure (pure thc), balance (1:1), + relief (5:1)

BUT FOR THIS WEED WEDNESDAY, I’M GOING TO FOCUS ON RIPPLE’S PURE GUMMIES.

THESE ARE MY FAVORITES.

flavor: kiwi apple

dose: 5 mg

availability: colorado

my thoughts: the kiwi and the apple flavors do an amazing job of cutting down the weed taste. the sour flavors hide it completely, but I’m not at all a fan of sour candy. the kiwi apple gummies give you a hint of tang without leaving your taste buds in shambles.

flavor: peach cherry

dose: 5 mg

availability: colorado

my thoughts: instead of masking the weed flavor, the peach cherry blends seamlessly. i must admit, i’m not a flavor of cherry-flavored anything but these turned out to be one of my faves.

i had a chance to sit down with the food scientist behind these amazing flavors, Stillwater life’s drew hathaway on 420 to talk more about what makes these gummies so special.

here’s what he had to say:

pretty: what’s your favorite flavor?

drew: my favorites are the sour watermelon and the sour green apple. I’d definitely recommend the sour pack.

pretty: you’re responsible for formulating the flavors behind ripple products. how many are there?

drew: for the gummies, honey lavender (relief), green tea mango (balance), blood orange (pure), peach cheery (pure), kiwi apple (pure), sour watermelon, and the sour variety (pure).

and for the quicksticks — mint chocolate (relief), ginger berry (balance), and blueberry pomegranate (pure). [there’s also] cool mint (pure), mango chili lime (pure), and we’re launching a classic lemonade flavor. we’ll probably see those released in June, July at the latest.

pretty: according to ripple, i’ll start feeling the effects of the gummies between 15 minutes and an hour after consumption. can you explain how that works?

drew: one of the ways we’re a unique company in this space is that we’ve actually paid the money to do the clinical research with colorado state university — which is not cheap and/or easy to set up. but it’s been really cool esp being a scientist myself and really caring about proving the claims you're making about your products.

obviously, in the weed industry, people use fast-acting as a claim pretty heavily and pretty loosely.

it’s really cool with these studies we’ve done — we have multiple now — we’re able to show that [ripple gummies] are detectable in your bloodstream within 10 to 15 minutes. obviously, you’re not getting the full effect — it’s not going to hit you like a brick wall — and then it’s that gradual uptake over the next hour.

we actually compared that directly against oil-based products. those products, you typically didn’t see in the bloodstream until 30 to 45 minutes after consumption and you weren’t seeing peak consumption until 2-3 hours after.

so what I really love about these products is — it’s more predictable that way. you can expect when it’s going to hit you and you’re going to have a slightly faster offset, too. it’s a more consistent and predictable experience for everyone.
